WAVE HILL and THE NY BOTANICAL GARDEN
Wednesday, September 9, 2009
Members & their guests are invited to visit two of the most important public gardens in the NY area. Our morning begins at Wave Hill, where you will enjoy a guided tour of this 28 acres estate dedicated to cultivating connections between people & nature. In a spectacular setting on a bluff high above the Hudson River, the estate was home to Theodore Roosevelt Sr., Mark Twain and, during WW2, Arturo Toscanini.
Enjoy lunch in the café, or bring a Brown Bag Lunch as there are lots of beautiful places to sit, scattered throughout the property.
In the afternoon arrive at the NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN, with over 250 acres of nature to explore. Enjoy an audio narrated Tram Tour, where you will be able get-on/get-off at your leisure. A must see is the Rock Garden, the Rose Garden, & the hundreds of plantings in this wonderfully designed landscape. Your time is your own.
We have read your remarks about our tours, and many have requested less time for lunch and more time to see the gardens. So, here’s your chance.
The tour includes: Deluxe Hampton Jitney Coach, entrance fees to Wave Hill & the NYBG, the Tram Ride around the property, tips, taxes and, for the return trip, snacks on the bus. We must have a minimum of 30 participants to make this trip a “go”. Please mail your checks for this tour before, but no later than August 10th.
