The proceeds of this annual event support our ambitious programs for the East End community including excellent lectures and workshops, educational programs for youths, adults and
seniors, scholarship grants to students studying horticulture and a superb library open to all. This is our only fundraiser of the year and the success of this event and our community programs can
only be accomplished with your support.
Annual Garden Fair
Come one! Come all! to the Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons annual Preview Party and Garden Fair to celebrate the start of the 2012 Hamptons gardening and social season. On Friday evening from
6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Preview Party, enjoy delicious wine and tasty hors d’oeuvres. Take a chance on winning great raffle prizes from local artisans, nurseries, restaurants, stores and
antique shops. Get the first selection of the very finest plants, trees and shrubs especially selected by knowledgeable HAH members. Meet new friends and reconnect with old ones, and at an admission
price of $50, it is the best bargain in the Hamptons.
As the only HAH fundraiser of the year, all plants available for purchase at the Preview Party and the next day at the Garden Fair, are benefit items and therefore, carry no sales tax. Your
participation and your purchases will support our community programs, scholarships, terrific programming and lectures, tours and, our renowned horticultural library. HAH members have worked very hard
to find special raffle items from a great group of community partners and raffle donors listed below. We extend to them a very special thanks for their support.
Plant Donations for the Fair
One of the most important contributions you can make is a donation of potted plant material from your own gardens, labeled correctly. Here are some easy guidelines:
Containers – clean clay or plastic, 1 qt. minimum.
Potting – complete potting at least two weeks prior to sale so plants can acclimate. Make sure there is a strong root system to support the plant.
Label – make one label for each variety of plant you bring. We will make more labels on the day of the Fair if necessary. Include the botanical and common names along with the cultivar,
growing conditions, mature plant size, and bloom time and color.
Care – Protect your newly potted plants from sun and wind and be sure they do not dry out. Always ask yourself if you would buy these plants yourself or give them as gifts!
If you have a significant number of plants to be dug and you would like help, please contact Digs chair Lori Barnaby 287-3634 or
lorib@optonline.net to discuss your needs.
