Native New Yorker Betsy Pinover Schiff juggles a busy career as a photographer with frequent travels at home and abroad. Following an active career in public relations at Sotheby's, the New York Public Library and the New York Botanical Garden, Betsy trained at the International Center of Photography and at other venues while she explored her new found love of photographing gardens and landscape architecture.
Betsy has won acclaim for many publications on gardens and landscape architecture, but is perhaps best known for her books on New York City gardens. Her first, Gardens in the City, New York in Bloom (with text by Mary Jane Pool) was published in 1999 by Abrams and opened our eyes to a vast array of excitingly creative city gardens largely unknown or unsung. Now she has collaborated on a new book called New York City Gardens (with Veronika Hofer.) Exploring private and public gardens hidden all over the five boroughs, at ground level and on roofs many stories above the street, Betsy has seen the city like no one else. Come hear her speak about these extraordinary gardens and see the city yourself as you have never seen it before.
